Yes, we did take certain licenses when it came to making the show. I'll have more fodder for you to pick apart in eps 4-9 and that's a promise.

Mars does appear larger than it should be, granted. And we've fixed that, somewhat, in a new digital composite. However, since the Artemis engines are still blasting away (plasma pulse engines - yes, I know...) we could shorten the assumed 8 month journey (give or take a few months) and get Scott there a little sooner.

As for communications... Yeah, lag time would kill us all. :) I chalk it up to nano-microwave, hyper-densic communication technology that NASA has failed to share with us.

Thanks for watching!

It's way too late to point out the obvious "time-lag" error, isn't it. There's no way that Scott could be having contemporaneous conversations with people back on Earth even 36 days in: there's an obvious delay when a message is bounced through geostationary satellites (watch a news report on any given day for example) and those are FAR closer.

Also, that last shot of Scott's ship approaching Mars? No way would he be that close to Mars so quick. Not to mention that, were he that close to Mars, the conversation delay I mentioned would likely be on the order of minutes, not seconds.

Regardless of this small technical hitch (which I assume is down to making the show watchable rather than having us sit around for ages waiting for responses) I am enjoying the show so far, and looking forward to the next episode.
