By nature I am a creative person. I create things. I also “produce” things… But that sounds mechanical, like punching out identical whirliedoos with no flexibility for change once the process has begun. That’s why I don’t like the term “production” when it relates to my show. So I am not putting together my production team. I am putting together my Creative Team.
And I think I just met the another key member of my creative team. Naturally, this makes me really excited.
We sat down for breakfast this morning and all three minds (creator, director and DP) began this spurring, spontaneous growth of creative ideas from the moment we said go. Each idea fed into the next, branching out in several directions until we were lost in a creative euphoria and had to reign ourselves in and refocus on the topic. Being able to allow this creative mind-storm happen is good. Being able to realize the creative storm is careening off course and redirecting it back to the topic at hand is necessary. Otherwise you have a ton of ideas, not all of them good, but to no purpose. I love brainstorming with creative, open-minded people.
So, that being said, we had a very productive meeting in getting to know a potentially new member of the team. I feel like we are building a solid, flexible, creative team and that makes me excited to get in front of the camera and make things happen. We’re moving towards the next step in this evolutionary creative process: Production.
Ha! I knew I would have to throw that archaic term in there, somewhere.
